As a designer/maker I am passionate about individually designed and crafted things, whether they are beautiful works of art or functional items such as clothing ,,,,, or perhaps both. I love experimenting with new ideas and techniques and pushing the boundaries of traditional silk painting. Inspiration is a very fickle element, I find, for whilst living in the country most of my creativity has its origins in natural forms or patterns, however, it is also present in the industrial skylines of nearby Stoke-on-Trent, home to the Pottery Industry, or a company logo which can be painted on a tie or scarf! An increasing part of my work is by commission, interpreting clients own ideas to produce bespoke designs or painting one of my existing designs in colours to order but I still love to let my creativity wander to come up with new designs and colours.

After 17 years as a Silk Painter I still feel inspired to produce new designs each year and love to hear my customers ideas for new designs too. I have in recent years been training as a silversmith specialising in silver jewellery, and what started as an evening class and a hobby has now moved on. I had an inkling that this might happen when a customer asked if she could add the pendant I was wearing to her list of purchases! It was a surprise to find that I do have a little time to spare and to fill that time making silver jewellery using traditional techniques and wonderful gemstones is a very happy accident.

Part of my work involves after dinner speaking, talks and workshops for all different types of organisations such as business clubs, WI and craft clubs. This is mainly a fund raising exercise for Cancer Research and an excuse to spread the word about silk painting which is such fun.

My work is only available from my studio in the Staffordshire Moorlands by prior arrangement, a select number of galleries and high quality craft and design fairs. For further information and enquiries please email
